Paris offices of five banks Tuesday on suspicion of tax fraud, French authorities said.
The raids were part of five preliminary investigations opened in December 2021 on allegations of money laundering and tax fraud linked to dividend payments, according to the statement released by the French National Financial Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutorrs did not name the banks, although French media mentioned banking giants HSBC, BNP Paribas, Exane - a BNP subsidiary -- Societe Generale, and Natixis.
